Resolene
Advanced Renewable Fuel from Agricultural Residues
Resolene is ReenBio’s flagship advanced biofuel — a renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend produced through our proprietary dual pathway biosynthesis technology. By converting lignocellulosic agricultural residues into high-energy hydrocarbon molecules, Resolene delivers the performance of conventional fossil fuels with a dramatically reduced environmental footprint.
Dual Pathway Biosynthesis Technology
Resolene is produced via ReenBio’s dual pathway biosynthesis platform, which simultaneously leverages:
- Mevalonate (MVA) Pathway: Engineered microorganisms convert acetyl-CoA from biomass hydrolysates into isoprenoid precursors (IPP and DMAPP), which are subsequently assembled into branched-chain hydrocarbons with excellent energy density and cold-flow properties.
- Methylerythritol Phosphate (MEP) Pathway: A parallel terpenoid biosynthesis route operating in tandem to increase overall precursor pool, enhancing volumetric productivity and reducing metabolic bottlenecks.
The synergy between both pathways allows for significantly higher hydrocarbon yields from the same agricultural residue feedstock, making Resolene economically competitive with petroleum-derived fuels.
Feedstocks
Resolene is produced using a range of agricultural residues, including:
- Rice straw and husks
- Sugarcane bagasse
- Corn stover
- Wheat and barley straw
- Palm empty fruit bunches (EFB)
These feedstocks are pre-treated using proprietary enzymatic hydrolysis and mechanical fractionation to release fermentable sugars and lignin-derived compounds for downstream biosynthesis.
